• Hello there!

I'm Janica, a Houston-based portrait photographer, and this is the JBO PHOTO blog. Here, you can check out my recent work, get the scoop on jbo photo sessions, and find out more (probably a LOT more) than you ever wanted to know about the day-to-day adventures of my quirky family.

Thanks for stopping by...I hope you'll visit often!

Gag me with a Spoon

Parker had his birthday party today and the 1,000,000 presents have been thrown up all over my living room.  (bonus points if you can find Bailey)

Our water heater sprang a leak and vomited water all over our hardwood floors.

My suitcase refuses to unpack itself and has puked its contents all over the bedroom.

Overwhelmed, overwhelmed, overwhelmed.   The mess in my house right now is simply nauseating.  So where do I get to toss my cookies?

“Count your blessings, name them one by one”…old hymn but one I sing often! My blessings are Ben, Janica, Brandon, Matt, Keri, Parker and Bailey among others! Look at those eyes, never seen any cuter than those 4 in that Texas/Nike picture! Things will get cleaned up and life will return to “normal” or is this “normal” and life will get back to MORE chaos! Oh well! I love you. Mom

Kissing Cousins

…of the sweetest kind.

Parker ADORES his cousin Macaylie and they had so much fun hanging out together last week.

We still don’t have internet, cable, or phone around here…but I’ve somehow found a pocket of steal-able service for the moment.  Thank you, non-Comcast neighbor of mine!

I have lots of wild and crazy hurricane stories to share, but I honestly can’t bring myself to get into it all just yet.  I’ve been feeling so worn down.  I can’t imagine all of those who lost their homes completely or have had major damage.  I am trying to focus on how incredibly fortunate we have been.  The whole experience is just plain funky.  Yeah.  I’m in a funk.

But the kids are still cute, my husband is still lovely, and I truly can’t complain.
