FANTASTIC. Get ready Leipzig. They’re coming soon. We can’t wait. Love, nana

What an exciting adventure for these two young ones. I think that we may have left Houston once or twice for a small roadtrip to one of the Great Grandparent’s homes…but never anything like this when Janica was young!
Love you and pack warmly for those babies, I hear it’s pretty cold! I will be so lonesome!

Parker Reads…and Smells

As far as I can tell, Parker is a VERY good reader for his age.  I’m sort of amazed at the things that he is able to read and understand.  He got a postcard in the mail today from his Nana and Icky, who are in Germany for a few months, and was able to read virtually all of it by himself. He does NOT like to do “reading performances”, but he was a good sport and gave a good little show until he became understandably distracted…

FUN FACT:  As it turns out, the offending odor was purely flatulence.  In fact, if you re-watch the video, I’m pretty sure you can pinpoint the exact moment when she “delivers”.

“Hi Parker,

We miss you!  These are the stop and the walk signs they have in Leipzig.  They are different than the kind we have in Houston. ”

I’ve never commented on any of your wonderful blogs before, but I have to congratulate Parker on his performance (and maybe Bailey on her show stopper). I know he is quite the reader, but I had no idea he could read my awful scrawl. Parker, I promise to print very neatly next time. The “m’ is really “in’. “This video made our day. Thanks so much for sending it. WE MISS THEM–YOU ALL–SO MUCH!!
Love, nana

Outstanding, Parker. You are truly amazing! I love you, Granbob
Bailey, tell Mommie that not ALL secrets need to be revealed!
I love you……tooooo!

Finally! Football!

Pbo has been waiting for flag football to start up again for MONTHS!

He had such a blast playing last spring.  I have to admit, he seems to have lost a bit of gusto this season.  He was disappointed that the team name is the Tigers.  I think he is still holding out for the Dark Blue Owls.  (his adamant suggestion from last year).  For a kid who can name every team in the NFL,  he didn’t seem to have his heart in the game last Saturday, but we’ll see.

He DID have a pretty good carry, and almost pulled a flag or two…and, most importantly, the Tigers won!  Good times, sports fans, and I know this is just the beginning.

Bailey is only mildly entertained by the whole display.

But she does enjoy playing “where’s Parker?” and points him out excitedly when she spots him. (the mop of bleach-blonde hair is sorta easy to find)

Daddy Matt, holding down the handsome on the sidelines.

Oh, those ridiculous mouth guards.  Parker devotes 90% of his attention to slurping the dang thing around in his mouth.  Seriously…they don’t even pass the ball – is it REALLY necessary?

“Good game.  Good game.  Good game.”

And of course, the MOST exciting part of the game….THE SNACKS!

Bailey’s favorite, too.
