Snug as a bug in a… stocking.

It wil be a merry Christmas, indeed!

How cute is Miss Alyvia??  I was delighted to hear that Lauren and Chris welcomed their perfect little one into the world a couple of weeks ago.  I just couldn’t wait to meet her!  Well, Wednesday was the day, and Alyvia did not disappoint.  She simply could not have been a more cooperative, laid back baby.  She dozed peacefully, and would occasionally open those deep blue eyes to take a peek around…before settling right back into a contented snooze.

Lauren and Chris, I know you are enjoying every moment.  Thank you for allowing me to share in a few of them!

Delighted to see the next generation so tenderly recorded!

So glad to have Denise in the “Grandmother’s Worship their Granbabies” club…she is just precious and I can’t wait to meet her in person. Janica said that she is just perfection!
I love the pictures, Janica…you just get better and better!
Barbara (Mom, Granbob)

[...] Welcome back, Douglas family!  It seems like we JUST took Lauren’s last round of maternity pictures, and that sweet Alyvia should still be this size. [...]

Watch out, World!

Literally.

They’re legal.

FANTASTIC. Get ready Leipzig. They’re coming soon. We can’t wait. Love, nana

What an exciting adventure for these two young ones. I think that we may have left Houston once or twice for a small roadtrip to one of the Great Grandparent’s homes…but never anything like this when Janica was young!
Love you and pack warmly for those babies, I hear it’s pretty cold! I will be so lonesome!

Parker Reads…and Smells

As far as I can tell, Parker is a VERY good reader for his age.  I’m sort of amazed at the things that he is able to read and understand.  He got a postcard in the mail today from his Nana and Icky, who are in Germany for a few months, and was able to read virtually all of it by himself. He does NOT like to do “reading performances”, but he was a good sport and gave a good little show until he became understandably distracted…

FUN FACT:  As it turns out, the offending odor was purely flatulence.  In fact, if you re-watch the video, I’m pretty sure you can pinpoint the exact moment when she “delivers”.

“Hi Parker,

We miss you!  These are the stop and the walk signs they have in Leipzig.  They are different than the kind we have in Houston. ”

I’ve never commented on any of your wonderful blogs before, but I have to congratulate Parker on his performance (and maybe Bailey on her show stopper). I know he is quite the reader, but I had no idea he could read my awful scrawl. Parker, I promise to print very neatly next time. The “m’ is really “in’. “This video made our day. Thanks so much for sending it. WE MISS THEM–YOU ALL–SO MUCH!!
Love, nana
