One Down…

…19 to go.

Look, I don’t do teeth.  I have nightmares about teeth.  Loose teeth make me uncomfortable and ridiculously loose teeth make me downright nauseous.  However, I knew that this was one of those inevitable parenting milestones that I was just going to have to power through.

And, you know, I’ve gotta say, after nearly two months of wiggling it, talking about it, checking on it, and those last few sickening days of having to hear Parker click it around with his tongue as it clung to his mouth by a single, stubborn root,  I was OVER the loose tooth. Squeamishness be dammed…let’s just get that sucker OUT.

After a dramatic night of failed attempts, I could tell that the whole situation was making him increasingly nervous, so I decided to just let it go and crossed all fingers and toes in hopes that it would come out while he was at school the next day.  No such luck.  But I continued to play it cool and ignore the pathetically awkward way that Parker was holding his mouth and the excessively spitty lisp that accompanied his speech. My patience paid off when, at Chick-Fil-A last night, Parker liberated that dang tooth in a bite of delicious chicken sandwich.  We carefully extracted it from the slightly masticated spicy goodness, wrapped it gently in a napkin, and transported it safely home to the anxiously waiting Tooth Fairy pillow.

The irresponsible Tooth Fairy did not have change smaller than a $5, so Parker really scored.  I made it a point to explain to him that first teeth were really worth significantly more and that it was only downhill for subsequent teeth, monetarily speaking.

Hope he got that.

19 more times…really??

[...] That said, this kid was PUMPED to lose her first tooth at school today.  (It was far less dramatic than her big brother’s first experience.) [...]

Princess Raincloud

A few months ago, as we sat in the Disneyland parking lot, the kids were discussing nicknames and wanted to pick their own.  After a lot of thought, Parker decided to stick with Pbo, and Bailey instantly announced that she would be Flower Einstein.  About five minutes later, however, Bailey dramatically announced that she did NOT want to be Flower Einstein.  Instead, she should be addressed as none other than Princess Raincloud.  This decision has been unwavering.

And so it is, on this 10th day of January, 2011, that I would like to send  kingdom-wide 3rd birthday greetings to my one and only Princess Raincloud Boles.  Thank you, sweet Bailey, for bringing an unexpected explosion of pink, sparkles, and giggles into our home.  I love you times infinity.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

In my book, any baby who is throwing out winks in week one is a winner.;)

Meet sweet Lyla Bell, the newest addition to one of my most favorite families, the Aldersons.

I’m telling you…she’s a winky gal!

…and completely precious in every way.

My, baby Lyla, what big eyes you have!

Could they be any more proud?  Any more ADORABLE?

Lisha, amazing mother of four, you are simply radiant.

(Am I right, folks?!)

Love.

Skeet, Lisha, Jack, Caden, Claire, and Lyla…I could just gush about your family all day long.

I love you guys and the GOOD thing you all have going together.

I’d love to find a time in the spring where all of us can get together and do a family photo. We have 5 more beautiful grandchildren. Your photos and Skeet and Lisha with their beautiful children are inspiring.
